FERNANDO PEÑA   Engineering Associate
Direct 512 440 8333 Ext. 115

Fernando grew up in Díaz Ordaz Tamaulipas, a small town in Mexico just across the border from McAllen, Texas. At the age of 17 he moved to Monterrey, México to attend college at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (The state University of Nuevo León) where he studied Electrical Engineering and received a Bachelors of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering in August of 2006. His interest in electronics dates back to repairing household appliances by trial and error while still in Elementary school (and oftentimes finding enjoyment at that moment when the wrong wire happened to be in the wrong place…)

Fernando started working at the age of 19, and his most notable experience is in the fields of HVAC and the Automotive Industry -where he escalated from an electronic technician to Project Manager and CNC/Robots Engineer. His experience in design and troubleshooting in automotive production lines and HVAC systems have given Fernando the skills to assess, analyze and develop solutions to problems with seemingly no clear answers, but requiring quick response.

Fernando joined ACR in August of 2008, and with his background in installation and troubleshooting of HVAC systems and controls he was able to quickly contribute to projects involving commissioning of such systems. Fernando is currently the key player in testing and commissioning of HVAC control systems associated with a large number of facilities, including all the Austin ISD Bond Program projects and a major controls retrofit at the Lower Colorado River Authority complex in Austin, Texas. As Controls Commissioning Authority Fernando's tasks include design review; submittal review; field-testing and reports; and he is also often involved in hands-on repair of controls devices and tweaking of sequences. Fernando has also assumed responsibility for developing complete operational sequences for problematic chiller plants and rewriting control codes that do not work properly.

Some of Fernando's hobbies and interests include mountain biking, music, gadgets, electronics, a good movie, and of course sharing a cold mug of Modelo Especial with a good friend.
